Musings & Inspiration
(and random tangents)
Themed, without the theatrics
The idea of a themed interior often brings with it a sense of performance. Rooms that explain themselves too clearly, leaning on obvious cues rather than atmosphere. But the most successful interiors do something quieter. They take their lead from place, history and use, allowing context to inform material, colour and tone without ever becoming literal.
At Fairgray Design, we approach themed interiors as an exercise in restraint. Whether working with heritage properties or contemporary homes, our focus is on creating spaces that feel settled and lived in, where references are suggested rather than stated. When done well, a theme does not announce itself. It simply makes a property feel as though it belongs exactly where it is.
